Terms of Use

These terms cover the Pulse desktop application for Windows, published by Refora Technologies. Installing or using Pulse means accepting them. If you do not accept them, please do not install it.
1. Licence
Pulse is free software under the GNU General Public License v3.0. Subject to that licence you may use it for any purpose, study and modify the source, and redistribute it. Modified versions you distribute must also be licensed under the GPLv3, and must carry the source. The full text ships with Pulse and is in the repository.
There is no charge, no subscription and no account. If you paid anyone for a copy of Pulse, you were overcharged.
2. Administrator access and the sensor driver
Pulse runs elevated because reading sensors at that level requires a kernel driver. Setup installs PawnIO, a Microsoft-signed driver also used by LibreHardwareMonitor and other monitoring tools. By allowing this you accept that:
- Pulse gains read access to hardware sensor registers through that driver.
- Pulse does not modify system settings, registry keys or hardware configuration, other than a scheduled task if you switch on start with Windows.
- Uninstalling Pulse asks whether to remove the driver, and keeps it by default in case other monitoring software on your PC relies on it.
- Where a device is not yours to administer, checking your organisation’s policy before installing is your responsibility.
3. Requirements
Pulse runs on 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 on an x64 processor. The sensor driver is x64 only, so setup will decline to install on an ARM64 machine rather than install something that cannot work.
4. No warranty
Pulse is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. This is the warranty position set out in the GPLv3, and it is repeated here in plain sight rather than buried.
Sensor readings are reported by your hardware and drivers through LibreHardwareMonitor. Which readings are available, and how accurate they are, depends on your machine. Pulse shows what the hardware reports, and shows nothing where it reports nothing. Do not rely on it as the sole safeguard for a component you care about.
5. Liability
So far as the law allows, Refora Technologies is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profit or revenue, arising from your use of Pulse. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
6. Open-source components
Pulse includes the components below, each under its own licence. Your use of them is also subject to those licences. The complete notices, including versions and the libraries LibreHardwareMonitor brings with it, ship as THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt beside the application.

7. Updates to these terms
If these terms change, the new version appears on this page with a new date above. Continuing to use Pulse after that means accepting the revised terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Refora Technologies operates, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
